Don Gilbert Timothy

Don Gilbert Timothy was born March 10th 1934 in Copperton, Utah. He passed away peacefully on January 31st 2017. He is survived by his two daughters Terry Sorensen and Jodi Hansen. The services will be at Redwood Memorial Mortuary (6500 S. Redwood Road) on Sunday February 5th 2017 at 6 pm. There will be a viewing at 5 pm. Burial will be on Monday February 6th 2017.
Don Gilbert Timothy was born in Copperton, Utah on his kitchen table to Rulon Matt Timothy and Marell Murray. He had two brothers Jerry and Paul. Don’s father Rulon, died in a mining accident when Don was 6 years old. He was raised by his mother and new husband, Westel Edgar Cochran.
Don married Elsie Joan Christensen on July 25th 1953 in Oklahoma and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They had 4 children Terry Dawn, Guy Westel, Craig Calvin, and Jodi Lynne. They were divorced twenty years later. Don later married the love of his life Beverly North. She died in October of 2003. Don did not like to be alone and married several other times.
Don and Beverly were amazing grandparents. They loved their grandkids and spoiled them rotten. The family got together often on holidays and other occasions.
Don was a workaholic. He loved to work. He spent many extra hours at whatever job he had. He managed several Safeway’s grocery stores. He worked at Kennecott copper mine. He was an excellent salesman and had several awards to show it. He was a manager at Winchell’s donuts and 7-11. He and Bev finished up his career working with troubled youth.
Don loved to hunt and fish. When he was in the US Navy Air Force, stationed in Panama, he hunted and fished on all his days off. It was a favorite part of his life. He often surprised his wife with an alligator in the bath tub, an elk in the basement, or rabbits in the kitchen sink. In his later life, he spent a summer beach combing in the Caribbean. He loved being outdoors.
Don was a collector. He loved Native American artifacts. He had numerous pictures, statues, especially arrow heads. He collected coins from the time he way a boy. His legacy to his children is their own private coin collection.
Don had a wry sense of humor. Some would say it was colorful. He liked being the life of the party and making people laugh. He had a quick wit, right up to the end. Even as his memory started to go he could always make people smile and even laugh at his sometimes funny jokes.
Don is survived by his daughter Terry (Marvin) Sorensen, his daughter Jodi (Mark) Hansen, both of his daughter in laws, Karen Timothy and Janet Timothy, eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Paul (Janice) Timothy and sister in law Lorraine Timothy.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Rulon Matt Timothy, Marell and Wes Cochran. Also preceding him in death was his beautiful wife Bev, two sons, Guy and Craig and his brother, Jerry.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the VA Nursing Home for the exceptional care and concern they rendered.
