Dilworth Griffiths, age 78, passed away after a valiant battle with Type 2 Diabetes, Parkinson’s, Dementia and Pneumonia on Friday, October 27, 2017 in St. George, UT. Dilworth was born in St. George, UT, November 5, 1938 to Ensign Cloy Griffiths and Edna Bundy. He was the 6th of 7 children. He married Mabel Grace Flanders on June 4, 1965, in the Salt Lake Temple, but later divorced. They had 6 children.
Dilworth was a quiet soul, but loved being with family and friends. Having grown up in Mt. Trumbull, on the Arizona Strip, he loved the red hills of the Utah/Arizona desert. He loved road trips, steaks and buffets, country music and western films. He was always content out in Nature. He served a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Texas. He also served in the LDS temple for a number of years. He followed in his father Ensign’s footsteps, working for the US Postal Service. He joined the Army Reserves and served his country faithfully, leaving his family to serve on active duty during the Gulf War. He retired from both the Postal Service and Army Reserves after having worked tirelessly at both. Although he was reserved in his manner, he had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh!
Dilworth is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Ensign Cloy, Jr., and his sisters, Anna Pauline and Veannetta. He is survived by his sister Norma, and his brothers Robert Garland, and Wilford J., his children, Aaron, Miriam, Naomi, Zenas, Nathaniel and Rachel, Son-in-Law Trent, Daughter-in-Law Kym, and his grandchildren, Jordan, Tyler, Samantha, Brittani, Dillon, Cole, Nichole, Kaytlynn, Abbigale, Brielle, Brindee, Beklynn and Brinklee.
We love our Father, Grandfather and Brother so much and will miss him greatly, but know that he is safe and at peace in the arms of his parents, his Savior and his Heavenly Father. We Love you, Dad!
