Diana Mae Richins

March 6, 1940 — May 12, 2017

Diana passed away peacefully in the presence of loving family on Friday, May 12, 2017 from health complications. She was born March 6, 1940 in Kenilworth, Utah. Parents Raymond Lee Putman and Ellen Mae Ramsay Putman. She was born in a boxcar/apartment. Diana was the oldest sister in her family, always loving and protective of her sisters and brothers.
She graduated from West High School in 1959. She was a member of the LDS church. She was a good dancer and loved it. She was an artist and very creative with drawing, designing and building crafts. She also enjoyed working in her yard to perfection. She loved her pets, cats and dogs.
Diana took pride in helping and taking care of her Mom & Dad. She loved her family very much, her grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, step children, and all 18 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Diana worked at many different jobs, manufacturing of clothing, making flower arrangements, and being an elevator operator at Hotel Utah. She would take President David O. McKay, his wife Emma and counselors to the top floors. Being she was so petite and dressed so stylish with her size 1 high heeled shoes and long beautiful hair, they referred to her as their Little Barbie Doll.
Diana’s son Steven was born with Muscular Dystrophy. Because she took such extraordinary care of him for 21 years, he lived much longer than expected. With both Diana and Steven’s determination he graduated from South High School with Honors. He received a standing ovation as he crossed the stage in his electric wheelchair. That was one of Diana’s proudest moments in her life.
She was like a second mother to her niece Tomilyn and nephew Raymond, and loving each of their children as their families grew.
She married Larry Kay Richins in Elko County, Elko Nevada in 1990, adding another chapter to her life and another loving family of 4 children, their spouses and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Diana never wanted or needed recognition for the good she did.
Diana is survived by her loving husband Larry, her loving father Raymond Putman, her loving step children Scott (Jodi) Richins, Kimberly Richins, Janalyn (Patrick) McKeehan, Kenneth (Kathy) Richins, her loving and devoted sister Linda (Brent) Jepson, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, loving nieces and nephews, aunts, cousins, brother in laws and sister in laws, and friends.
Preceded in death by her loving son Steven Clark Jones, her mother Ellen, her brothers Michael, Mark, Jack and sister Jeannie, grandparents, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family wishes to express their gratitude for the many caregivers, doctors and nurses for their tender treatment and compassion to Diana that sustained her over the years. A special thanks to Dr Jamie McDonald, Dr John Greenlee, Dr Greg Hawrlyk, Dr Sera Stone, and Dr Abbey Drummer at the University Hospital (NCCU, Neuro Critical Care Unit).
