Despina Moutsos

April 28, 1940 — July 19, 2016

Despina Moutsos passed away on July 19, 2016. She was born in Kambous Crete, Greece to Manolis and Kiriakoula Garbidakis. She came to the United States in 1953 and married the love of her life Milton Moutsos in 1956. Together they made Maryland their home and raised two beautiful children. Despina played a very active roll as a member of Philoptohos for Saint Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Washington D. C.. She spent countless hours volunteering for the church and baking goodies for the annual bazaars. In 2005 she moved to Salt Lake City, Utah to be near her son and family and continued to work as a volunteer for her beloved Holy Trinity and Prophet Elias churches. Despina was loved by all that knew her and will truly be missed. She is survived by her loving children, her daughter Haratina Giannikakis (George) and her son Kostadenos Moutsos (Katina). Her grandchildren, Yiannis, Milton, Vangelis and Despina. Her sisters, Klio Pentaris, Emilia Gonalakis, and Aphrodite Sfakianakis as well as her brother Nikos Garbidakis. Despina was preceded in death by her husband Milton Moutsos, her brother John Garbidakis and her sister Ioanna Dollas as well as her loving parents. She will also be greatly missed by all of her nieces, nephews, godchildren and countless friends. A memorial service for Despina will be held at The Prophet Elias Greek Orthofox Church on 5335 S. Highland Drive, Holladay, Utah 84117 on Wednesday July 27, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.. The funeral services will be privately held. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so may make contributions in Despinas name to The Holy Trinity/Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church Benevolence Fund at the above address.
