Deryl Tischner

December 15, 1923 — February 16, 2016

Deryl DeVon Tischner

Born December 15, 1923 to Michael John and Lillian Ockander Tischner. Our beloved  husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather and brother passed away peacefully  at home, February  16, 2016 of complications incident to age and is now resting in peace with his loving Heavenly Father, sweetheart, son and many family members  and friends.   He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. Married Bernice Wood on November 18, 1942 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Deryl graduated from Jordan High School in 1942. He was a veteran of the Merchant Marines and served in World War II.  He retired from the trucking business after many years of service.   While working for Ashworth Transfer Trucking Company, he had the privilege of being a part of the NASA- Moonrock Nationwide Tour.  He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in numerous positions. Some of his greatest joys were singing with Mom in the ward choir, in various duets/quartets and in “The Messiah” when they were younger, fishing with his sweetheart at Strawberry Reservoir, gardening, genealogy and being able to attend the temple on a regular basis.  Some of his greatest sorrows when his health declined were not being able to continue his genealogy work any longer or participate in the various temple ordinances that he had done regularly for so many years.   He was an avid reader and especially loved historical and biographical books.
He was blessed with three sons and three daughters who were his pride and joy as well as his 24 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren and three great-great children. He is survived by his sons: Dwight Tischner (Tamra), Kevin Tischner (Rita) and daughters Linda Johnson, Vickie Barton and Denice Dysart (Tom).  He was preceded in death by his sweetheart Bernice, son Richard (Ruth Ann), parents, one sister and six brothers.
