Derek Watson

December 7, 1986 — April 27, 2021

It is with deep sorrow and much love, that we mourn the passing of our son, brother, father, and grandson Derek Matthew Watson. Derek returned to heaven on April 27,2021 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Derek was born on December 7, 1986, to Lisa Dowd Pueblo and Aaron Watson. Derek graduated from West High School and worked many different trades in his short life. He married Alyssa Spencer on Nov 17,2013 later divorced. Dereks greatest accomplishments in life were his children; Skylee Ann, Zoey, Liam, and his new baby on the way Malea to arrive in July 2021. Derek loved his children with all his heart, and they were his whole world. Derek loved the game of baseball and excelled at it. Derek played on many first-place teams and seemed to always make all stars. Derek was selected to the All-American team while playing for West High School. You could look at Derek and know he was an avid Raiders fan. Derek sported Raider’s gear year-round and was proud to let everyone know. Derek was the type of person that would never let you feel alone or left out; you were always welcome with judgmental free arms open wide. His personality was amazing, quick witted, and his laugh was contagious. If you knew Derek, you could not help but just love him! He was so caring and always eager to help the elderly. He was truly respectful to everyone. A month before graduation he was in an accident while riding a mini motorcycle. Derek broke both wrists, requiring surgery and ending his baseball career. The pain and recovering Derek endured was long. Derek became addicted to pain pills; this addiction spiraled out of control! Derek’s sister Cassie at this time was all Derek had! Cassie took him in. The two of them always had a special bond. Cassie was married at the time to Tim Habdas and Tim welcomed Derek, they tried so hard to help Derek turn his life around. Cassie’s sisters of whom Derek loved very much Brook Jones and Harleigh Jean Powers (he thought of you as family!) They all went so above and beyond for him! Our family cannot thank you all enough. Over the last few years, Derek did find love again with Kelsey Oliver, she has two daughters of which he did love as his own. He loved all his children deeply. Although Derek tried many times to turn his
life around, his demons finally won. Derek has no more battles with his demons and can now rest! Rest my little man, I love you so very much! From your biggest fan, Mom.
Derek is survived by his mother Lisa (Jeff) Pueblo, Aaron (Michelle) Watson, Sisters, Elise (Lance) Brown, Cassie (Robert) Leon, Kaitlyn (Quincy) Puffer, Kylie Pueblo, Brothers, Cody (Mashara) Watson, Chance Pueblo, Jimmy (Stephanie) Gilmore, Jason Gilmore, and Scott “Booboo” Watson. Also, Derek’s beautiful children, Skylee Ann, Zoey, and Liam. Fiancé Kelsey Oliver (carrying his little M&M) Malea Monroe. Derek also leaves behind his grandpa Ted Dowd, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many cousins and family that loved and prayed for him to make a life change. Derek is preceded in death by his Grandma Nancy Marrelli Dowd of whom was his partner in crime a ton and is holding him dearly in heaven.
