Denise Barrus Goodwin

Denise Barrus Goodwin 1960-2020. Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and friend, completed her earthly life on March 27, 2020, in West Jordan, Utah. She was born in Moscow, Idaho on March 2, 1960, to Milton Emery and Sandra Ann Barrus. Denise was the firstborn of three and was raised in Twin Falls Idaho. She spent her summers growing up in the South Hills alongside her family as they accompanied their father in his job as a forest ranger. Through this, she developed a deep love of camping and spending time in the peaceful mountains.
Denise graduated from Twin Falls High School and went on to attend LDS Business College in Salt Lake City, Utah. It is here that she met her eternal companion, William Goodwin, they were sealed for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on December 1, 1979. Through their 40 years of marriage, she lived in West Jordan, Utah where they raised their three daughters. In her time in West Jordan, she served in multiple capacities and callings for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Denise was an avid reader and had a passion for literature in all forms. She developed skills in shorthand early in her schooling which helped to further her success as an administrative assistant for Jordan Valley Water for the last 20 years.
Denise is survived by her husband, William Goodwin. Her daughters; Kristin Schalk (Chris), Chelsie Gustafson (Isaac), and Kellie Roennebeck (Russ). Her parents Milton and Sandra Barrus. Her sister Michelle Peper (Robert) and brother David Barrus. Also the grandchildren she adored; Emery (17), Ashlynn (15), Megann (10), Katelynn (8), Gage (4), Parker (4), Isabelle (1 week), and baby Roennebeck (due May 2020).
Denise is preceded in death by her Grandmother Rella Finch, and Grandparents Emery and May Barrus.
A closed graveside service will be held in her behalf at the Memorial Redwood Cemetery. And a celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
