Deloras Rae Fisher

DeLoras Rae Fisher, age 95, passed away on October 9, 2020 in West Valley City, Utah. She was born on September 22nd 1925 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Delos and Erma Lewis.
DeLoras was named after her father, Delos. As she was growing up, she had a collie dog named Laddie.
She worked at numerous jobs. She was a secretary at Hill Air Force and Nellis Air Force Base, a dispatcher at North Las Vegas Police and at Lady Luck Casino. She would get up at 2:30 am to take time to feed the pigeons before she started work. Her love for birds and animals were displayed in all her many hobbies.
Her hobbies included: art, drawing, oil painting, cooking and candy making, organ playing, ceramic making and reading. All her drawings and oil paintings included children or animals in it. One day, her sister, Arvella, and De took all their painting and drawings outside and let passersby take them home. She always shared her talents with many. Every holiday, she made numerous different candies. Some of her favorites were peanut brittle and English toffee. She spent hours playing the hymns and her favorite movie songs from the 40’s and 50’s on her organ. She also loved to read romance, adventure stories and historical novels. She loved to watch western movies. She always had a green thumb. She grew a garden every year. She had a neighbor, Lee, that would come and till her garden for her. She grew flowers and vegetables. Her favorite was squash and tomatoes. One year, she grew a grew a 26 lb. squash. She had a bucket list of things that she wanted to get accomplished. At the age of 92, she did the High Roller in Las Vegas and had a 5-generation picture taken.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary located at 6500 South Redwood Road in West Jordan, Utah. The graveside service will take place following at 2:00 PM on the same day at the Bountiful City Cemetery located at 2224 South 200 West in Bountiful, Utah.
Face masks will be required at all viewing and funeral services and social distancing will be observed.Service Information
