Dee Murphy

Dee Franklin Murphy, 70, passed away on July 1, 2016. Dee was born on April 22, 1946, to Franklin and Evelyn (Keele) Murphy.
Dee enjoyed gardening, music, the outdoors, fishing, bird watching, telling farm stories, watching sports, and pulling pranks. Much of this stemmed from living, working and playing on a farm in Bridgeland, UT growing up. He then attended Utah State University, and served in the U.S. Army at Fort Belvoir from 1966 to 1968. He was a hard worker and held executive positions as a mortgage banker. He married his sweetheart Irene on November 24, 1978 in West Valley. He was a great father to his four daughters and loved teaching children, especially his grandkids.
Dee is survived by his wife Irene (Jewett) Murphy, his daughters; Kim Maddox (Robert), Angie Jackson (Ken), Shelley Lindorff, and Alexia Murphy, his 7 grandchildren; Robert, Lace, Allen, Sarah, Monica, Presley, and D’dra, his siblings; Robert (MaryAnn), Alan (Betty Jan), Karen (Duane), and Hazel (Reed), and his dog Jazzmin. He is preceded in death by his wife Barbara (Collins) Murphy, both parents, and his brother Gerald.
Services will be held at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery (6500 South Redwood Road) Wednesday, July 6th at 11 a.m. A viewing will be held one hour prior. Interment will take place at Valley View Memorial Park.
