Debra Jo Smith

Debra Jo Smith… Wife, Grandmother, and my Mom… She was born on February 6th 1957 in Clearwater Florida and sadly departed for the heavens this last Saturday, August 24th at 10:22 a.m. here in Salt Lake City.
Debbie leaves behind her beloved husband Roy Smith, her two children Michael & Michelle Smith and her 4 Grandchildren Matthew, Tiffany, Haylee & Mckaylie Smith. She will always be remembered and Loved for eternity.
My Mother met my Father working at a carnival in Huston Texas in April of 1975. My Father was a Game Master and my Mother the Prize Presenter! They were young, In Love, then married 1 and ½ years Later in October of 1976.
Soon thereafter they had their son (Me) Michael Smith born on August 30th of 1978. Michael had a breathing condition so they searched for a climate with less humidity and finally settled here in Salt Lake City in 1979.
After leaving everything they knew behind and beginning a new life together, in a place they were not familiar with, they were finally able to settle and buy their first home. They were finally completing their goals and growing! Soon after, they decided and planned their second and last child Michelle Smith, whom was born here in Salt Lake City, March 4th of 1982.
Debbie was a stay at home Mother while her husband Roy worked and provided for our very young Family. Mom always made sure the house was cleaned, cooked the best meals and taught her children how to cherish, Love and be compassionate.
Throughout the years our family went through it all… good times, hard times but we always had each other. Debra loved her children and despite the growing pains we kids put her through, she was always the one we would go to when we needed something. Mom always had that softness to her which made it more comfortable to talk to her about the not so good things we were dealing with.
Years had gone by and us kids have grown up and started families of our own, our Mom was now a Grandma! We watched Debra change so many things about her life, going from being the Mom that we all knew and loved and turning herself into an Amazing Grandma!
After all these years of being blessed, God decided it was time to bring one of his Angels back to heaven for something bigger and grander! She passed away comfortably Saturday morning surrounded by her loved ones. We shared stories and held her hand as she passed. Debra will always be remembered and missed dearly. We Love you very much Mom and have found comfort in knowing you will always be watching over us.
