Deborah Jean Moffitt Powell

February 2, 1957 — June 25, 2018

Debbie was born on February 27, 1957 to Eugene Tifton Moffitt and Barbara Jean Denny in Salt Lake City, Utah. She passed away unexpectedly on June 25, 2018.
As a child Debbie had a passion for dance and even performed the Nutcracker with Ballet West. She was very energetic, vibrant and made everyone in the room smile.
She found her calling in life when she became a mother. Debbie, always put her children first. She counseled them, protected them, motivated them and wanted them to have the world. She encouraged them to develop their passions and was always the loudest person cheering them on at each of their events.
Debbie was always the life of the party. She treated all she met like family, hugging everyone in the room. As teenagers, even her children’s friends would come simply to visit Debbie. She loved to host parties, from watching a big game to a backyard BBQ; you knew the food would be good and her company even better.
Debbie was known for her love of music and could captivate an audience with her stunning voice. She continued to use her passion for music and dance by sharing her talent with her daughters. In her later years she choreographed and helped produce a musical with her church.
Those who knew her and loved her will miss her more than they can articulate, but the strength she instilled in them from a young age will be her final gift to carry them through. If she were here she would help us to move forward with the words from her favorite song and say “I Hope You Dance.”
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her children: Zach (Nikki) Roberts, Andrea (Shawn) Sorensen, Ashleah Seely, and Madison Powell. Brother, Michael Knudsen and 9 grandchildren.
