Dayton Gessell

July 15, 1998 — November 15, 2013

The life and special energy of our “D” left this world on November 15. Dayton came into this world, July 15, 1998. He was legendary to all that had the opportunity and honor to have him in their lives, and the world has suffered a great loss. Dayton was such a bright light and touched everyone he knew in such a special place in their hearts. There was always a smile on his face and a hug readily available. Dayton truly was a lover and a peace keeper. The love he shared between his brother and sister was love only few were able to possess.
Dayton could always light up a room. He always had a kind word and wisdom beyond his years. His brother and baby sister adored him and thought he hung the moon. He felt the same way about them. He had so many cousins and he was their favorite. One cousin in particular, Hunter, was his other half; he and Dayton grew up side by side like twins with a bond only the two of them can understand. Dayton always made people laugh and yet was always a voice of reason. He had an uncanny ability to make you always see things his way. Those blue eyes and baby face were a thing of wonder. He made such a huge impact on so many people’s lives in his short 15 years – we are sure he will never be forgotten. Heaven has gained a handsome young angel.
He was an avid baseball player, and played on multiple city leagues, All-Star teams, and Super leagues. He shared his great love of baseball with his “Papa David”. He loved camping, fishing, and “roughing it” in a tent. Dayton excelled in everything he did – longboarding, bowling, and all sports. He took pride in himself and in everything he did.
He leaves behind his parents, Angela Gessell and Peter Marconato; brother, Landon; sister, Gracie; grandparents, Tamara and Terry Torkelsen, David Gessell, Rosa Black, Vickie Paterson and “Grandma” Stewart, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and other extended family. Preceded in death by his grandpas, Dino Angelo Marconato, and Lloyd Graham.
A celebration of Dayton’s life will be held Saturday, November 23rd, 2:00 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 So. Redwood Rd. with a viewing 2 hours prior to services. In lieu of flowers, a fund has been set up at Mtn. America Credit Union, under Dayton’s name.
