Dawna Marti Decker

Surrounded by her loving family, Dawna Marti Decker passed away peacefully on December 31, 2020.
Mom was born on April 8th, 1928 in Salt Lake City to Ernest and Irma Jane Marti.  Mom graduated from East High School in 1946.  She married her high school sweetheart Jay Decker in 1951 and later sealed in the Salt Lake temple in 2004.  Jay passed away in 2011.  She retired after 21 years from the Newspaper Agency as the payroll clerk.  Mom enjoyed golfing, fishing and camping and was an amazing bowler, having bowled (2) 300 games, but mostly enjoyed traveling in the motorhome with dad.  She had many talents including sewing, knitting, cross stitch and playing the piano and organ.  She loved putting together puzzles and playing cards with the family and did both up to a month before her passing.  She so loved her family and enjoyed being around them.  She will be greatly missed and will be in our hearts until we meet again.
She is survived by her three children, David (Nellie), Robyn (Ken) Fernelius, Chad (Sandy), six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and her sister Lois Patterson.  Preceded in death by husband, parents, brother (Harold Marti), and son Todd.
The family wishes to express our sincere gratitude to the staff of Intermountain Homecare & Hospice, especially Meghan, who cared for her in her final days.
A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 from 11:00AM – 12:00PM at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary with a graveside service for close friends and family at 12:30PM. Masks and social distancing are required.
Interment will be at Memorial Mountain View Cemetery 3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Heights, UT 84121.
