David Wm. Bean

Our loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, David Wm. Bean, passed away December 31, 2017 with his loving wife by his side. He has been reunited with his parents and his son Larry, who preceded him in death. David was born April 20, 1925, to Christopher Brown Bean and Frances Hannah Holmes, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
David joined the Navy in World War II. He was a Motor Machinist Mate Second Class. After the war was over, he married Estella Fay Farnworth on June 19, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they had five children. They loved to go camping and on family trips.
David was an avid aviator who loved to build and fly planes. His favorite was called “Roadrunner”, which he built himself. He also loved to take us up in his plane and scare us to death.
He was skilled in auto restoration, woodworking and painting. He hand-crafted many gifts for family and friends. He retired from Mountain Fuel in 1980 after a 35-year career. He and Fay served an LDS Mission to the Baton-Rouge, Louisiana Mission from March 1984 to March 1985. Together they traveled the country, visiting almost all 50 states.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, four children; Bonnie (Bruce) Snider, Leland (Kathy), Arvin (Nancy), and Tom (Sandy), 30 grandchildren, and 53 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at the LDS Church, Granger West 8th Ward, at 3305 South Scottsdale Drive in West Valley City, on Saturday, Jan 6, at 11:00 AM. There will be a viewing from 6-8 PM on Friday, Jan 5.
Interment will be at the Memorial Estates at 6500 South Redwood Road.
