David William Pratt

January 28, 1955 — May 12, 2020

Our loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather, David William Pratt was welcomed home by his Heavenly Father on May 12th 2020.
David was born on January 28th 1955 to loving parents, William Jerald Pratt and Nila Tingey Pratt. David grew up in Springville Utah and was the oldest of 6 kids. He married the love of his life Pamela Carlson on May 31st 1979. This month would have been their 41st wedding anniversary.
Together David and Pamela have 4 wonderful children. Bradley, Jennifer, Jacklyn and Janelle.
David would always say his family was his greatest joy. He could never tell them enough how blessed he felt to be a part of their lives. His Grandchildren were the front runners to that joy and they all had such a sweet connection with him. David also had a deep love for his Savior Jesus Christ and was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. At the age of 19, he served a mission for his church in Atlanta, Georgia. He since took every opportunity he could to share his testimony with those around him.
David had a way of making connections wherever he went. He would constantly stop while he was out to talk to complete strangers because he treated everyone as if they were his friends. He had this tremendous passion for all sports, particularly baseball. His favored sports teams were BYU and the NY Yankees, and have been ever since he was a little boy. He was the most loyal of fans, win or lose. David also loved doing genealogy. His love for history and his ancestry were the reasons behind it. He once told us that he wanted his children and grandchildren to recognize those who have made us who we are today.
We could go on and on listing all of the things David loved because there are so many. However, the thing that stands out the most to everyone who knew him was his incredible character. The secret to knowing how to love someone was found in his beautiful heart. He had this amazing sense of compassion and acceptance for everyone he met. He could enter a room and immediately make everyone in it feel safe, secure and loved. Some people just have tenderness in their soul, and David was one of those. His light shined so bright. He fought many battles throughout his life, including suffering from a stroke 6 1/2 years ago. However, he battled through it with dignity and grace and he overcame so many odds.
David we love you and miss you more than anyone could possibly imagine, but we know that death is merely a temporary goodbye. We cannot wait for the day when we can once again wrap our arms around you. Until we meet again.
David is survived by his wife Pamela; his son Bradley Pratt (Jen); daughters Jennifer Garcia (Eric), Jacklyn Dean (Jacob) and Janelle Wilson (Adam); 16 beautiful grandchildren; his Mother Nila Tingey Pratt; brothers Jerry Pratt (Cindy), James Pratt (Debbie) and Kelly Pratt (Diane); sisters Mary Brewer (Mark), Kristie Crandall (Kyle); and many nieces and nephews who also held a special place in his heart.
He is proceeded in death by his Father William Jerald Pratt
