David West Thomas – Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, neighbor and servant of the Lord
David (Dave) West Thomas, 75, of Holladay, UT, passed away on August 28, 2018. Dave was born on December 24, 1942, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Hadlond Pratt and Bernice Madsen Thomas. After graduating from East High School, he served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the British Mission from 1962-1964.
While attending the University of Utah, he met the love of his life, Margaret (Margie) Ann McMullin. Dave and Margie married in the Salt Lake Temple on March 17, 1966, and they were blessed with five sons.
Dave worked as an airline pilot spending the majority of his career with TWA and finishing with American Airlines. He was an exceptional pilot who loved his work and won numerous awards from the airline.
Throughout his life, Dave touched and blessed the lives of many through various acts of service. Countless hours were spent helping and serving his family, neighbors, friends, and even strangers. Dave loved any good repair project and was always ready to lend a hand. He had a wonderful sense of humor and always had great stories to share. He thoroughly enjoyed watching his grandchildren compete in sporting events and never wanted to miss a game.
Dave is survived by his wife, Margie; sons (and their wives), Adam (Robin), Benjamin (Brenda), Justin (Elizabeth), and Preston (Kambria); 17 grandchildren; and brother Daniel (Carol). He was preceded in death by one son, Daniel Robert Thomas.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 1st, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at 4917 Viewmont Street. Viewing immediately preceding funeral services from 9:30-10:30 a.m. as well as Friday, August 31st from 6-7 p.m. at 4670 South Highland Drive. Burial at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
