David Roger Gylling

David Roger Gylling passed away at the age of 47 on December 20, 2021 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born in Granger, Utah on July 13, 1974 to Roger Wayne Gylling and Shirley Von Forell Gylling. David graduated from Taylorsville High School and received a degree from Salt Lake Community College and also attended USU. He was an outstanding athlete in volleyball, basketball, baseball, and water polo where he was part of the state championship team and an all-tournament selection. He also was a gifted writer, bird lover and so much more.
David was loved by his family, friends, and neighbors. A gentle and spiritual giant standing 6’ 8” tall. He was an Elder in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed home teaching and attending the temple with his sister. He had a great love for the Savior, admiration for Church leaders, and compassion and love for the less fortunate.
David was called to serve a difficult and challenging mortal mission. It has been sad for his family and friends to see him suffer from bipolar disorder for over 30 years. His mission taught others, through his example, how to be humble, meek, hopeful, prayerful, long-suffering, steadfast, loving, obedient and faithful. He drank from the bitter cup but did not become bitter. He is now free from this challenging mission he was given to endure. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
He is survived by his parents, Roger and Shirley Gylling, sisters Valerie (Gerry) Holman, and Renae (Dary) Gylling Cruz, and brother Benjamin Gylling. He was preceded in death by sisters Lynnette and Shawna.
Services are being held privately by the family. He will be interred at Memorial Redwood Cemetery 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah 84123.
