David Ray Fitton, our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away Sunday July 14, 2019 after a short battle with liver disease.
Dave was born April 27, 1952 to William “Bill” and Mable Brierley Fitton, who settled in the Pine Canyon area of Tooele, Utah after immigrating from England in 1950 with two small children. Dave was the first in the Fitton family to be born in the US following their immigration; two more children followed. After spending his formative years in the Tooele area, the family moved to Granger, where Dave graduated from High School in 1970.
In September 1973, Dave married Maxine, later solemnized in the Jordan River LDS temple, later divorced. Together, Dave and Maxine raised 5 children in their Sandy, Utah home: Rachelle, Sarah, Colin, Karli and Alec. Dave adored his 5 grandchildren: Stephen, Dallin, Olivia, Logan and Owen
A lifelong member of the LDS faith, Dave served as the Bishop’s Clerk for the LDS Haven Ward in South Salt Lake. Dave spent his career in the car parts industry, working for many dealerships along the Wasatch Front, most recently working at 6 States Distributing as a parts driver. When he wasn’t working or busy with church duties, Dave enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids, cheering for the New York Yankees, attending Salt Lake Bees baseball and Utah Grizzlies hockey games, Saturday breakfasts and long drives with Sarah and Olivia. He also enjoyed participating in many bowling leagues (until his shoulder no longer allowed him to) and tinkering with his 1970’s Triumph motorcycle with his brother Phil, which unfortunately was never able to get on the road.
Dave is survived by his children: Rachelle, Sarah, Colin (Emilly), Karli, and Alec (Becca); his grandchildren, Stephen, Dallin, Olivia, Logan and Owen; his brothers John Stuart (Susan), Phil (Eveline) and Keith (Marie); sister Heather (Richard).
