August 16, 1931 — January 29, 2021

August 16, 1931 – January 29, 2021 / Sandy
David Paul Jentzsch (Hambone) was born on August 16, 1931 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Carl Jentzsch and Pauline Olson. He married Barbara Jentzsch in August of 1953 and they had four children.
He grew up in Farmington, Utah, involved in various boyhood pranks and adventures. He attended the University of Utah, studying engineering. He then joined the Marine Corp and served in Korea. He became a respected rubber engineer and started his own company designing and manufacturing rubber missile parts for the space and military industry. Eventually, he became world renowned in the rubber lining industry.
His hobbies included hunting, gardening and ways to give service. Part of his favorite scripture says “be full of charity towards all men” and he embodied this fully. He loved giving, serving, and finding ways to make people smile–even when they knew they were the victims of his humor. His handshake was well known as a steel grip that put you at his mercy, but his strength was used more often to bless others through service activities
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints he served in many different capacities. His favorite was working with the youth, where he earned the nickname, Hambone.
He and his wife, Barbara served a mission in the Washington D.C. temple, and continued to serve in the local temples. He shared often of his faith promoting experiences and his testimony.
He was a beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather. From hunting to snowmobiling; to four-wheeling and wave runners; to tea parties with the little ones, he loved playing with the family and children, and they loved playing with him. We will miss his laughter and smile.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his children, David (Lu Ann) Jentzsch, Debbie (Scott) Chatwin, Cindy Dunnavant, Heidi (John) Dansie, 13 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Gregory Dunnavant.
