David E. Mecham
“Life Is One Long Weekend”
David Eldon Mecham was born in Ontario California 4 February 1961 to Eldon J and Lila May (Wathen) Mecham. The family moved to Utah in 1971. He graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1980 and attended BYU in Provo Utah while working for Richards Laboratories in Pleasant Grove. Together with his cousin Lynn Mecham they created Carousel Ice Cream Parlor in Provo Utah where he used his considerable talents to design most of the recipes and loved working with the public and his co-workers. In 1994, he went to work for Lynn Wardley at Wardley Better Homes and Gardens. Within 3 years, he started managing the Bountiful office which later became Coldwell Banker. After 9 years in the industry, he wanted to give back and became a real estate investigator for the State of Utah where he used his skills and passion to help many people. In 1983, he met and married Michelle Barrass in Provo Utah. They had six beautiful children of whom he is so proud. “He took the weather with him” and had a great passion for life. We all knew him for his great sense of humor and knowledge on every subject. He was the go to guy when we needed help which he was always ready to give. David took the high road and gave generously of his time and energy. He is survived by his wife Michelle, his six children David Eldon Mecham Jr., Daniel (Lisa) Mecham, Jessica (Roy) Morreale, Kimberly Mecham, Thomas Mecham, Jill Mecham and four grandchildren Emma Kruis, Judge Mecham, Brooklyn Mecham and soon to come Sydney Mecham. His parents Eldon and Lila and seven siblings, Steven (Kaylynn) Mecham, Tami (Lance) Hampton, Kelly (Roger) Fannin, Karen (Russell) Lee, Susan (Brett) Brinkerhoff, John (Amy) Mecham, Bill (Jenn) Mecham and 26 niece and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Lynn and Nellie Mecham, John and Dessie Wathen, His Uncle John Wathen and niece Becca Lee. He died the Sunday September 1, 2013 in a car accident. Public services will be held by Murray Memorial at their Lake Hills location 10055 South State Street, Sandy, Saturday, September 7 at 11:00am. All who knew Dave are welcome to join us in remembering him.
