David Leroy Jessup

May 22, 1925 — January 15, 2020

Now there is a square dance in heaven. David Leroy Jessup passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 15, 2020. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at 11:00 am at the Willow Creek Stake Center, 2450 E. Creek Road, Sandy, Utah.
Dave was married to Noleen Farnsworth just 4 months shy of 60 years. She died in 2006. Dave and Noleen had 8 children; Mary Lou (Larry) Otteson, Joyce (Bill) Sudweeks, David (Kathy) Jessup, Thomas (Teri) Jessup, Tim (Tami – deceased) Jessup, Gordon – deceased (Monica) Jessup, Chris (Roberta) Jessup and Ken (Heidi) Jessup. They have 33 grandchildren, 109 great-grandchildren and 4 great-greatgrandchildren. Dave was so proud of his posterity and told everyone he met how many grandchildren and great-grandchildren he had.
Dave was the 5th of 7 children of Frank Kelsey and Rosa Limb Jessup. His siblings were Delora, Beulah, Lealand, Thomas, Frank and Sheldon. All deceased except Sheldon.
Dave had many jobs in his life: farmer, miner, baker, truck driver and home building, but he considered his square dance calling as his profession. He called for over 45 years mostly known for his daddy-daughter and mother-son dances for schools and churches. He formed the square dance club Pair-A-
Dice Squares and called for many events from Disneyland to the Stadium of Fire and at various churches around the state regardless of religion. He would take square dance floor shows to nursing homes and care centers because of his love for the elderly.
Dave will also be remembered for his many acts of service. He had a great life and was a great example of endless love. He was a lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ. He always said he married into the most wonderful family in the world. The Farnsworth family, his brothers and sisters-in-law became his best friends, and many of them were in his square dance club.
Dave loved western music and played a mean harmonica. He really enjoyed playing his harmonica with the Sandy Senior Citizens. All of our lives have been blessed because of David L. Jessup.
