David Larsen “Daddy Rabbit”

April 1, 1948 — November 20, 2018

“Daddy Rabbit”
David Earl Larsen passed away peacefully on November 20, 2018. He was born on April 1, 1948, in Salt Lake City, Utah to George and Merle (Johnson) Larsen; the youngest of four children. He graduated Granite High School in 1966. In 1967 he married his high school sweetheart, Layne (Lee) Blanchard (later divorced) they had two daughters that were his pride and joy.
David worked forty plus years as a “railroad man” working as superintendent for Western Railroad Builders. It was there he made many lifelong friends. November of 1984, while living in Napa Valley, CA he met his match, his soulmate and the love of his life Pamela Smith. No matter where he went his fun and carefree spirit would light up the room. He never missed a birthday or holiday; his cards and gifts were always highly anticipated.
David loved his adventures at Lake Powell and his time spent golfing. So much so, that he chose Mesquite, NV for his retirement, only to find himself working the course for Casa Blanca. He could also be found riding his RZR through the desert or fishing at Panguitch Lake. Those who knew him knew of his love for Elvis, he never missed an opportunity to belt out one of his songs. More importantly, he had the biggest heart. He loved his family and friends unconditionally and dedicated his life to helping those around him. Nothing brought him more joy than spending time with those he loved. He had a way of making everyone he met feel like you were his best friend. He was truly the life and soul of every gathering.
David is preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father-in-law, his sister Shirley and brother Merlin. David is survived by his wife Pam, children Wendi (Greg) Bernson, Jami (Tyler) Smith, Christina (Peter) Orme and Adam Baumgaertel. Grandchildren McKenzi (Mckay) Snow, Madison (Zackary) Moreno, Lexington Bernson, Savannah, Nellie and Tessa Orme, Greatgrandchildren Rowan and Maguire Snow, Maizey Moreno and sister Katherine. He is also survived by his beloved pups Lucy, Buster, Joker and parrot Rudy.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Humane Society. A celebration of David’s life will be held when the snow thaws and the boats are on the water.
