David Jones has a story.
David Jones was abandoned by his family when he was a young boy.
When he was 19-20 years old in the fall of 1971, he came to live with the Johnson family by way of the Bishop in the ward where the family lived.  Dave was working with Job Core at the time and was having a tough time making it on his own and the bishop approached Mr. And Mrs. Johnson and asked if they could take David in for a while.  They obliged and the “awhile” turned into many many years.
Dave lived with the Johnson’s his entire adult life and was considered family.  He was Dave, Uncle Dave, David, Bro, etc. In the 70’s and 80’s when the kids were young, he helped around the house and did much to lighten the load of a large family.  For a time in the late 80’s and 90’s he ventured out on his own, only to come back and live out his life with the Johnson’s.
During his working years he worked at Behner Concrete cleaning the concrete molds and taking them to the incinerator, he also gathered copper wire scraps and took them to the salvage yard and traded it in for cash, he worked as a janitor for several years, and then he landed a job with the University of Utah where he worked for over 35 years.
Dave loved to work.  He lived to work.  Dave rode the train to and from work every day, he was a master at maneuvering the train schedule and could pretty much get anywhere in Salt Lake.  For several years we would ask him when he was going to retire and he would say “oh, in a few years.”
Dave loved opera music and movies.  He loved all movies, it didn’t matter how bad the movie was, he loved it because it was a movie.
During the last several years of his life Dave enjoyed shopping for Dragon and Fairy statues.  He loved sharing his prized possessions with anyone who would take the time to look and listen.
Dave always considered the Johnson’s his family and the Johnson’s always considered Dave their family as well.
Dave is preceded in death by Glen Johnson Sr., Glen Johnson Jr.  and Robert Johnson.  He is survived by Jamie Johnson and Sean Fox whom he lived with for the last 10 years or so, Nicole, Keith, Gary, David, Mike, Bonny, Jerry, and Joyce Johnson Meyer along with many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
The world has lost a most precious man and heaven has gained an angel…
