David passed away on September 29, 2013, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born on November 24, 1935, in Payson, Utah to Vegh Christensen and Verna Gregerson. He married Gwen Hammond on March 30, 1963 in the Salt Lake City LDS temple.
David was very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, holding many different callings over the years. He held a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from the University of Utah, and worked for the Utah Dept. of Transportation. David also enjoyed golf, photography, and was an accomplished wood worker. He is greatly loved and will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife Gwen Christensen, his sons: Eric Christensen (Dave Sylvia), Kenneth Christensen (Tristin), Greg Christensen (Keri), and daughter Kim Christensen; six grandchildren: Hailey, Camryn, Bryce, Nathan, Joshua, and Kelsey; and two sisters: Susan Lewis (Joel) and Carol Christensen (Glade).
He was Preceded in death by his parents Vegh Christensen and Verna Thornton.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Winder West Seventh Ward LDS chapel: 4350 So. 1100 E. SLC, Utah. A viewing will be held on October 2, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 at Memorial Mortuary 5850 So. 900 E. and one hour prior to services. Interment will follow at Murray Cemetery.
