David C Johnson

March 23, 1937 — November 14, 2017

In the early morning hours of Tuesday, November 14, 2017, the spirit of our beloved husband, father, and friend, Dave Johnson, relinquished his weakened, broken body and met the loving embrace of Jesus. Dave was born to Mark and Martha Johnson on March 23, 1937 in Murray,
Utah. He graduated from Murray High School in 1955, the first class to graduate from the school at its current location. Dave’s career began with his displaying perfectionistic skills in auto body repair at his body shop. He evolved into an independent insurance appraiser/adjuster and finally retired in 2001.
Dave married the love of his life, Mona (Evans) on October 8, 1967 at Chapel of the Bells in Las
Vegas, Nevada. They enjoyed 50 years of marriage.
Dave will be remembered for his contagious smile and quirky sense of humor; his beautiful chameleon eyes that Mona once told her friends were green, but when they met him, were actually blue (and at other times gray), his love of the words and phrases, “incidentally” “now let’s think about that for a minute;” and for his endless efforts “to make a long story short.”
Those who spent time with Dave will miss hearing stories about his stock car racing adventures, hunting mishaps, airplane flight escapades, and one or two (or three or four) stories about making the acquaintance of law officers whilst testing the speed of his cars. His children will remember the many rides “around the mountain” and their dad’s willingness to turn around repeatedly to speed over hilly terrain, bumpy railroad tracks, and anything else that made them squeal in delight.
Dave had an exceptional talent for golf, as evidenced by his many trophies. He also had mad, mad pool skills and expected that if we were going to play pool we’d better play with winning as the end goal rather than goofing off. In his younger years, he was a part of the All-State Fast Pitch Softball team and has no doubt joined some of his old teammates already for a game in Paradise.
Dave’s greatest joy in the later years came from his grandchildren. He made an effort to keep up with their lives and attended many special events, from sports competitions to plays to graduations. There was an obvious spark of pride in his eye whenever he spoke of them.
Dave was received as he entered Heaven by a large group of souls who preceded him, including his parents and parents-in-law. He will be missed by his sweetheart, Mona and his beloved siblings, children, grandchildren, great -grandchildren, and friends.
