Darold enjoyed restoring old Tractors and Model T’s; he also was accomplished in wood working and made most of the family’s furniture. His many friends knew they could count on him to fix, repair or invent a way to solve any of their home, car or tractor problems. He could fix anything. He was known for his good sense of humor and his ability to talk to anyone. He worked for Kaiser Permente; now Leigh Hansen for 25 years as a Heavy Equipment Operator. Retired and started restoring old tractors; Farmall, and John Deer tractors to name a few, along with several Model T’s. We as a family enjoyed going to old car and tractor shows. He participated in the San Bernardino County fair by taking his old tractors and putting them on display; he enjoyed his friends and educating everyone on his antique farm equipment. He also enjoyed taking his 1950 Ford pickup to car shows where he won many awards. He served in the Korean War on Eleuthera Island in the Bahamas from 1952 to 1955 and in the reserves until 1960. He received the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He loved making homemade ice cream, and eating anything involving sugar; riding motorcycles; watching his children and grandchildren participate in sporting events.
