Daniel William Hunter

Daniel William Hunter was born in Salt Lake City, Utah March 15, 1950, to Daniel Manchie Hunter and Verna Olga Williams. He died on November 5, 2021. Daniel was known for his positive outlook on life, was always optimistic, and kept his sense of humor even amid life’s most challenging circumstances.
Daniel is survived by his wife, Shauna Lynne Clayton Hunter, and children Steven Matthew Hunter, Paul Daniel Hunter (wife Julia Bonnie Hunter), Tamera Hunter Whitesides (husband Jonathan Whitesides), Melinda Ann Hunter, JD Hunter, and siblings Gerald Martin Hunter and Kathy Hunter Calobeer. Daniel also has eight grandchildren: Mickayla, Annelise, Jocelyn, Jeffrey, and Timothy Hunter; Savanna, Jackson, and Lila Whitesides.
Daniel grew up in Davis County and attended Bountiful High School. He graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and the University of Puget Sound with a Juris Doctorate. Daniel practiced business and tax law for 45 years and was a highly sought-after strategic problem solver. He also partnered as a small business owner for several years and participated on the Board of Directors for various stocks. Daniel was an avid reader and always had a stack of books next to his bed throughout his life. He had a keen interest in business, financial markets, politics, archeology and his family heritage. He was an active member of the Rosicrucian Order since 1985.
Daniel served a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the South-East Asia Mission, serving in both Singapore and the Philippines from 1969 – 1971. He remained an active member of the church throughout his life and enjoyed  serving in the temple and teaching Gospel Doctrine classes. Daniel married Shauna Lynne Clayton on August 24, 1973 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were married for 48 years and had five children together.
Daniel was loved and will be deeply missed by all his children and grandchildren. He was very playful with his grandchildren and encouraged them to get good grades and invest in the stock market. Daniel loved to advise all his progeny and spoke with them as often as possible.
A funeral will be held on November 12, 2021, 11:00 AM at the Garden Park 7th Ward, 4842 West Vermillion Drive, South Jordan, UT 84009; viewing 10:00- 10:45 AM.
A memorial will be held at Memorial Lake View Mortuary on November 12, 2021, 1640 East Lakeview Drive, Bountiful, UT 84101.
