Daniel Thomas Taylor
Daniel Thomas Taylor, of Taylorsville, Utah, passed away at his home on August 15, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born in Takoma Park, MD on April 15, 1931 to Ancel Newell Taylor and Virginia Borg Taylor. He was baptized as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and later ordained to the Priesthood, thus beginning his lifelong service in the church. He received his Eagle Scout award and later graduated from Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School. He enlisted in the Marine Corp and served active duty in Korea and Europe. After his honorable discharge, he served a mission in the Great Lakes Mission. Upon his return, he married the love of his life, Verla Durney in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised their 6 children, Ann, David (Cindy), Liz (Bruce), Virginia, John (Sandra), and Danette (Scott). He worked for nearly 30 years at the LDS Hospital. After retirement, he and Verla served a mission in England and later in Alaska. As a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, he served for many years in both the Salt Lake and Jordan River Temples. He was an avid genealogist and served a mission in the Family History Library. He is now reunited with his parents, brothers Tom and Bob, sisters Cathy and Millie , and grandchildren WJ Clark, Roger Wilcox, and Daniel Brewster, and his Father in Heaven. He is survived by all his children, 15 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held August 21, 2017, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Hazelhurst Ward, located at 3045 West Bernina Drive, Taylorsville, UT, 84119. Funeral services will be held August 22, 2017, at 11:00 am with an hour prior viewing starting at 10:00 am also at the Hazelhurst Ward. Following funeral services, interment will be at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park (also known as Camp Williams) located at 17111 1700 W, Bluffdale, UT 84065.Service Information
