Craig Lavere Wagner, 70, of West Jordan, Utah, passed away December 18, 2024 at Jordan Valley Hospital due to complications from sarcoma cancer. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his wife, all 9 of his children and many family members
Craig was born October 16, 1954 to Frederick and Elaine Wagner in Salt Lake City. He graduated from Olympus High School in 1972 and after a very successful blind date, met the love of his live, Ellen Spykerman. They purchased their West Jordan home in 1975, and he made several improvements over the years to accommodate his growing family. He was never without a home project thanks to his wife’s creativity.
Craig’s love of music was well known by all. He was an excellent guitarist, band mate and jam partner. Wherever he went his guitar was always in tow ready to be played. He especially loved to sing and play to John Denver and Don McLean.
Craig began his career in Electrical Technology as a Traffic Signal Technician for the state of Utah. He worked there for 23 years before becoming a Field Service Representative for Econolite. He officially retired shortly after his 70th birthday, celebrating with a joint birthday and retirement party.
Craig was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He held many callings but had a special affinity for the choir. He was a proud Eagle Scout and enjoyed sharing his talents with the younger scouts.
He is reunited now with his parents, beloved twin aunts Ruth and Reita, a sister Lori Wagner, his stillborn daughter Whitney, and many other family members.
Craig is survived by his wife, Ellen Spykerman Wagner, seven sons Michael(Jennifer), Aaron(Carrie), Jeremy(Lisa), Ryan, Jordan, Morgan(Kristen), Wyatt(Becca) and two daughters Amy and Katelyn Wagner, grandchildren Mitchell(Maddi), Amber(Jared) Keller, Alysha, Abbie, William, Charles, Henry, Reagan, Zoe and Archer Wagner, Justin and Ashley Laycock, Charlotte and Sam Moorehead, great grandchildren Ruby and Terra Wagner and Elora Keller, brothers Marv(Pam), Daniel(Laurie) and sister Joleen(Mark) Black, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks to please donate to the American Cancer Society.
A viewing will be held Friday December 20, 2024 at The Church of Jesus Christ and Latter Day Saints 7903 South 2700 West West Jordan, Utah 84088 from 6:00-8:00 pm. another viewing will be held Saturday December 21, 2024 at 10:00 am with a funeral service at 11:30 am. Interment will be following the service at Redwood Memorial Cemetery 6500 South Redwood road, West Jordan, Utah 84123.
