List  of Hobbies Accomplishments:
Cora Jean Kay was born on May 22, 1933 on her family’s farm in Delta Utah. She was born during The Great Depression and was the youngest of seven children. Being the youngest in the family, her first niece was born when she was only eight years old. After losing the farm to the depression the family moved to Midvale where she continued to be doted on by her siblings.
In 1951, Cora met the love of her life, graduated from Jordan High School, and on September
21st married Donald L Kay. They spent twenty-five years together and even through their extreme struggles their love for each other only grew. After hoping and praying for many years she gave birth to their son D. Todd Kay in 1966 at the age of 33, of whom they cherished.
Cora converted to the LDS faith and was baptized September 22, 1971. She served as a den mother as well as other callings in the church.
Donald Kay passed away from cancer on March 25, 1976. Their marriage was solemnized
January 28, 1978 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Cora lived and worked in Sandy Utah for 37 years. She took pride in her work in the food industry and labored for twenty years as a high school lunch lady until she retired in 1996. Her son married Rachael Thomas that same year.
Cora welcomed her first grandchild Celina Elizabeth in 1999 at the age of 66, her son being 33.
Her second and last grandchild Timothy Howard (a.k.a. Howie) arrived in 2002 and her grandchildren became the strength and love of her life. She cherished every moment with them. For the last 16 years of her life her son and daughter-in-law doted on her unabashedly and she took pride in them for doing so.
Cora’s favorite hobbies were embroidery, Lawrence Welk, collecting butterflies and bells. Her biggest passion was reading and even though, in the end when she couldn’t read, she insisted the Book of Mormon be read to her.
She is survived by: D. Todd Kay (son), Rachael Kay (daughter-in-law), Celina Elizabeth Kay (granddaughter), Timothy Howard Kay (a.k.a. Howie, grandson).
She is preceded in death by: Lawrence and Mamie (Cropper) Kay (parents), L. Dee Nelson (brother), Ralph W. Nelson (brother), Maxine (Nelson) Pyper (sister), Howard C. Nelson (brother), Harold W. Nelson (brother), Carl N. Nelson (brother)
