Connie Thomas

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister and friend, Connie Joann Thomas (78) passed away peacefully surrounded by family in Tooele, Utah on August 11, 2018. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah on February 5, 1940 to Jack and Luella Wakefield.
Connie was an avid dog lover who considered her dogs her fur babies. She enjoyed going camping with her grandchildren. She was a big fan of the Western shows, especially her man “Cheyenne”. She enjoyed her morning coffee and had an appetite for sweets and Fritos.
She is survived by her siblings, Larry (Carolyn) Wakefield, Joan Haglund, Susan Kooyman, Jackie Kaighn and sister in-law Sharon Wakefield; her daughters, Zola Stubbs, Terri (Richard) Smith, and Barbara Barney; son, Robert Hegelman; her grandchildren Jim (Ashley), Tanya (Marc), Cordelia, Mya, Steven, Jacob (Christine), Jessica (Thayn), Brandon, Ashley, Danial; seven great grandsons and four great granddaughters.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Mike and Ronnie Wakefield, sons; Lewis and Jim.
The family would like to thank Rocky Mountain Care (Tooele) and offer a special thanks to all the caregivers for their compassion, friendship and skilled assistance in caring for Connie. We would also like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Ellen with Rocky Mountain Hospice and all the nurses who cared for Connie during her final days, ensuring that her final days were comfortable and peaceful.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM. on Friday, August 17, 2018 at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah 84123. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral from 12:00 – 2:00 PM.
