Colleen Smith

August 31, 1926 — March 17, 2020

Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Colleen Smith, left her earthly home and returned to her heavenly home on Tuesday, March 17, 2020.
Colleen was born to Wells Boise and Leda Walker Anderson on August 31, 1926, in American Fork, Utah. After working as a real-life Rosie the Riveter during WWII, she met and married Raymond E Smith on October 29, 1948, in the Salt Lake Temple.
Our hard-working mom was very proud of her farm-girl upbringing and was a great example of commitment, charity, and selflessness. Her honest temperament and devotion endeared her to those with whom she worked and socialized. In her later years, her great-grandchildren were Mom’s greatest joy. She truly had the Spirit of Elijah with her, and spent not only many years researching and doing temple work for her ancestors, but also taught many others how to research their own genealogy. Our mom treasured being outdoors gardening in her yard, which was always one of the prettiest in the neighborhood. She also became a beautiful oil painter later on in life. Colleen was her children’s greatest supporter and advocate in their swimming, music, scouting, and church activities. In her younger years, she loved to run track at American Fork High School and BYU, and she also was one of the original BYU Cougarettes.
Colleen is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She has a strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which was evidenced by the many church callings she faithfully held throughout her life. After retirement, Colleen and Ray spent several years serving those with spiritual and temporal needs.
Colleen is survived by her four children: Raylene Thueson (Byron), Cheryl Smith, Bryson Smith (Deb), Brent Smith and her sisters Betty Mousley and Mary Holmes. She has (10) wonderful grandchildren and (18) beautiful great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Smith, two brothers Loren “Chub” Anderson and Ray Anderson, and great-grandson, John Paul Domina.
We will cherish your memory, Mom!
