Cody James Wilcox

April 1, 1982 — January 29, 2020

Cody James Wilcox was born April 1st 1982 in Helena, Montana, to Stephen James Wilcox and Gaelee Andersen. When Cody was a toddler, the family moved to Hamilton, Montana, which would forever become homebase.
Cody had boundless energy and a zest for life. As a boy, Cody would channel this energy into various sporting activities including; wrestling, football, basketball, mountain climbing, golf, with a strong focus on his true love: baseball. Through the game, Cody found a second family which grounded him through adulthood. Cody’s positive energy and charisma commanded any room he entered; it did not take long for him to turn a stranger into a friend. Cody wore his heart on his sleeve; he was authentic, trustworthy, and loyal, which allowed many of those friendships to evolve into lifetime bonds.
Cody had a strong sense of tradition, which, following the path of his dad and grandfather, led him to enlist in the United States Army in 2002. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 507th Parachute Infantry where he gained another family. Cody served one deployment before being honorably discharged in 2005.
After the military, Cody attended Northwestern Lineman College, emerging as an apprentice. He worked his way to Journeyman Lineman with Rocky Mountain Power, later accepting a position with PG&E. This took him to the state of California where he again gained a family within his crews. In 2015, Cody was seriously injured on the job. After time and hard work at rehabilitation, he realized his dream of climbing had come to an end. However, his love and passion for the work was ingrained in him. After searching for his next move, he found a happy compromise when he was hired as a Safety Engineer with Sturgeon Electric. Cody believed in the company, his role, and more importantly, felt genuinely connected and supported by the people, he gained yet another family.
With all that Cody accomplished in life, his greatest sense of pride and his deepest love is held for his children, Londyn, Autumn, and Lachlan. His entire world revolved around the kids; he was in awe every day by their accomplishments, personalities, and resilience.
Cody is survived by Marie Wilcox (mother of his children) and his children Londyn Wilcox (6), Autumn Wilcox (5), and Lachlan Wilcox (3); his mother, Gaelee Andersen; siblings Melissa Wilcox, Jason (Tiffany) Wilcox, Tanya Wilcox, and Josh Wagner; ten nieces and nephews and a large, tight-knit extended family.
Cody is preceded in death by his grandparents, Jim and Shirley Wilcox and Jack and Edna Andersen, his father, Stephen James Wilcox, and his step-mom, Alexis Wagner.
