Clinton James Redlin, age 88, passed away February 9, 2014 in Salt Lake City. Born December 12, 1925 in Detroit, MI to Charles and Emma Shergold Redlin. Married Dona Whitehead on June 18, 1952 (later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple). Jim always said that Dona saved his life the day she married him.
Dad was a hard worker starting young in life selling newspapers on the streets of Detroit at the age of 6. He joined the Navy at the age of 16 serving in the Pacific during World War II. When Dad moved to Utah in 1951, he met Dona and then joined the LDS Church. He worked most of his life as an engineer for UDOT. Jim was very social and made friends easily. He took care of his family and neighbors. He enjoyed making model boats and airplanes, and had great skill as an oil painter. Dad loved the ocean and dreamed of going back to Santa Barbara, CA and highway 101.
Survived by his children, Barb (Penny) Redlin, Charlie (Linda), Connie (Dennis) Marshall and Kathy Redlin; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Dona and son, Mike.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at the North Jordan 2nd Ward, 4270 South Falcon Street (4200 West) with viewings from 6-8:00 pm on Wednesday at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan and one hour prior at the church.
