Clifton Dwight Stillman

Clifton Dwight Stillman died on December 20, 2019 in Draper, Utah. He was born on December 20, 1927 in Millcreek, Utah to Joseph Jullian and Emma Osguthorpe Stillman. He was the youngest of eight children.
Clifton graduated from Granite High School and attended the University of Utah. He was drafted into the military in July of 1946. He married Fay Bascom on December 24th, 1954, later divorced. Together they had three children. He married Lavon Knight September 9, 1982. Clifton and Jerry Johnson became business partners starting Buds Hardware in Holladay. Buds became a renowned hardware store, operating for more than 20 years. Shortly after closing up shop, Clifton went to work for Cottonwood Heights Recreation center and worked diligently for 23 years as a Facilities and Parks manager, retiring at age 87.
Through it all, we don’t think anyone could have been a better neighbor than Clifton. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and was well known for his hardworking, industrious spirit. Clifton’s hobbies included working, fishing and service to family and neighbors.
Clifton is survived by his wife, Lavon, sons Brian and Scott (Bobbi) Stillman, son-in-law Cyd Armstrong, granddaughters Whitney Stillman, Holli (Cody) Kershaw, Tandy (Aaron) Larson, Chelsey (Andrew) Loftus, grandson Brandon (Julia) Armstrong, step children Brad Knight, Lisa Knight, Lynda (Jeff) Hanks, Greg (Denise) Knight, Jeff Knight, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, sister-in-law Nada Stillman. Clifton is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Stillman, mother, Emma Stillman, brothers Darwin (Vivian), Milton/Mitt (Virginia), Leland (Neva), Sterling, sisters Gwen (Dave) Smith, Lillian Schmid, Margrett (Normy) Cook, daughter Lisa Armstrong, stepdaughter Patricia Knight Touchette.
The family would like to thank Clifton’s granddaughter, Holli, for the thoughtful care she provided the last year of his life.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 28th, 2019 at 10:30 am at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary, located at 3115 E. Bengal Blvd. Cottonwood Heights, Utah 84121. A viewing will be held Saturday morning from 9:00-10:30 am prior to the funeral services.
