Clayton Eugene Perkins was born on September 18, 1942 and died on June 14, 2017 after a battle recovering from surgery.
Gene was born to Clayton L. Perkins and Ruth Lyon Perkins in Salt Lake City, UT. He married Camilla Lether on July 6, 1960. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on January 15, 1964.
He graduated from Granite High School and the University of Utah, majoring in Interior Design and also served in the Army Reserves for 8 years.
Gene and Cam have 2 daughters, Janean Myles and Wendy Walker (Trevor). They are also blessed with a Granddaughter Sara Wark (Jarryd),Grandson, Joshua Perkins and Step Grandson Adam Walker. He was an amazing husband, father and grandfather and always went above and beyond for his family.
Gene was an amazing artist and his talents ranged from watercolor, sculpting, welding and making candles. He also loved photography and his family was often his subjects. His artistic talents and love of outdoors let him to rock hunting and creating jewelry with what he found.
Gene loved sports and was a softball coach for many years. He coached Ladies Fast Pitch in Idaho Falls and enjoyed it so much. He had a passion for snowmobiling and hiking. When Gene and Cam were first married, they joined a car club and owned a Jaguar and Austin Healy. He always had a soft spot for sports cars and loved talking about them.
Gene and family owned Meyer’s Floor Covering/Abbey Carpet in Idaho Falls for 13 years and he continued the floorcovering industry for many years after that. He really enjoyed his most recent position with Enterprise Marketing and the employees who worked there.
Gene is survived by his wife Cam, daughters Janean Myles and Wendy Walker (Trevor). Granddaughter Sara Wark (Jarryd), Grandson Joshua Perkins, Step Grandson Adam Walker and brother Gary Perkins. He was preceded in death by his parents
Funeral services will begin at 12:00 pm on Tuesday June 20th at the Holladay 18th Ward, 2625 Milo Way in Holladay, UT. A viewing will be held at 10:30 am prior to the funeral.
