Claude Eugene Smith

On Monday, January 6, 2020, Claude Eugene Smith, loving husband and father of five, passed away at the age of 70.
Claude was born on April 3, 1949 in Lakeview, Oregon to Orrin and Helen Smith. He worked as a welder and machinist for over 25 years. Claude received his Bachelor of Engineering from Brigham Young University in 1990. On August 27, 1974 he married Kathleen Ann Lehr. They raised five sons: Luke, Daniel, Tyler, Benjamin, and Jay.
Claude enjoyed the outdoors with his boys taking them camping and fishing, and instilling in them a love of God’s creations. He found hope and love in the gospel of Jesus Christ – a love he passed on to his family.
Claude is preceded in death by his father, Orrin, and his mother, Helen. He is survived by his loving wife Kathleen and their five sons: Luke (Andrea), Daniel (Kathy), Tyler (Julia), Benjamin, and Jay; their 14 grandchildren who he adored: Andrew, Taylor, Porter, Ethan, Zoe, Bailey, Samantha, Brock, Isaac, Tucker, Nathan, Eliza, Clarabel, and Dean: and four siblings: Gloria (Mike) Spencer, Michael (Cheryl) Smith, Sid (Denise) Smith, and Rowena (Greg) Greenwood.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meetinghouse on 3219 South 300 East, South Salt Lake City, Utah at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Memorial Redwood Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah.
Claude will be remembered, loved, and honored by all who knew him.
