Clark Laws Barton AKA “The Grouch” died December 25, 2017 at his home in Bountiful, Utah. He was born October 5, 1934 to Alpha Riddell Barton and Lurlene Laws in Monticello, Utah.
He married Cherrill Kay Oyler on April 30, 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple, they were sealed by Harold B. Lee.
He had a lifelong career as a skilled union carpenter. He served for 30 years as an electrician and radar technician with the Utah Air National Guard. Clark worked for many years servicing elevators in the LDS church’s temples in North America.
He was a very committed member of the LDS church and loved serving in the temple. He and his wife Cherrill served two missions at Martin’s Cove in Wyoming.
His passion was always travel, especially trips to national parks and to see his family. He was committed to providing memorable vacation experiences for his family.
He is survived by Cherrill Kay Oyler Barton, his wife of 63 years; brother, William R. Barton (DeAnn); sister, Mary Jane Vuyk (Marty); half-brothers, Rex Barton (Marty Ann) and Kirk Barton (Firlene); sons, Jeffrey C. Barton (Brenda), Alan G. Barton, and J. Dale Barton (Kathy); daughter, Laurie K. Anderson (Paul); 23 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Kay Barton; sister, Dawn Barton; father, Alpha Riddell Barton; mother, Lurlene Laws; stepmother, Bernetta Barton; daughter, Colleen Barton Kemp; and granddaughter, Rebecca Barton.
Services for Clark will be held Saturday, December 30 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bountiful Tabernacle, located at 55 S Main Street, Bountiful, UT 84010. A viewing will be held beginning at 9:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Memorial Lakeview Cemetery, located at 1640 E Lakeview Dr., Bountiful, UT.Service Information
