Christopher Kenneth Purdom was born on May 12, 1985, and left this world on June 2, 2024 in Murray, Utah.
Chris was born in Whittier, CA. He was an energetic child who was hard to keep up with at times. He was athletically gifted and played many sports growing up including baseball, basketball and hockey. Chris earned a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology from the University of California State, San Bernardino. This laid the foundation for his career in the realm of physical fitness and coaching basketball. He had a love for youth and coached both girls middle school and men's college basketball. Additionally, he worked as a personal trainer and even ventured into entrepreneurship by owning his own gym for a period of time. Chris's impact stretched beyond the court and his athletic abilities - he had a way of instilling confidence and strength in those he worked with. Chris enjoyed empowering kids and instilled values that extended far beyond the court including the importance of teamwork, hardwork, overcoming adversity, and ultimately being apart of something bigger than yourself.
However, Chris's true pride and joy were found in his role as a father to his beloved daughter, Shae Ann Purdom. He cherished every moment spent with her and valued family above all else. Alongside Shae Ann, he is survived by Odilis (mother), Jim (father), Evie (sister), and Isaac (brother-in-law).
Amongst the memories that will be treasured by those who knew him best, are the times Chris shared preparing Dominican food, displaying both his culinary skills and his love for cultural experiences. His hobbies included playing basketball, being outdoors, physical fitness, traveling, drawing and creative projects.
Chris was known for his strong exterior which housed an incredibly big heart. His magnetic personality drew people towards him effortlessly. He possessed an inviting aura that made everyone feel welcome in his presence - a quality that will forever be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Tragically, Chris faced insurmountable health challenges as he battled an aggressive form of cancer for nearly two years. Despite enduring numerous complications along the way, he remained resilient until the very end and impacted many people with his positivity and strong faith.
Today we bid farewell to a remarkable individual whose light will continue to shine through the memories we hold dear. In our hearts remains an everlasting tribute to Christopher's legacy - one of love, strength, laughter, guidance, and pride for his family. May he rest peacefully knowing the profound impact he has had on those around him, until we can see him again in our Heavenly Kingdom.
