Christine Simmons

Christine Simmons, loving daughter and sister, passed away April 15, 2018 from complications from a fall. We can only imagine the joyous and tender reunion it must have been when she was reunited with our mother. She missed mom more than we realized and was never quite the same without her.
Christine was born June 6, 1953 in Coalville, UT to Weldon and Lucy Simmons. She was the oldest of 3 children. She attended Backman and Onequa Elementary Schools, Horace Mann Junior High and graduated from West High School.
Christine worked at the University of Utah Hospital in the Housekeeping Department for 38 years.
Christine enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, knitting, cooking and crossword puzzles. Her favorite night was Monday Game Night (Thank you to the ladies for always picking Chris up on those nights).
Christine loved the yearly trips to Las Vegas and to the Rose Bowl Parades, she enjoyed her many trips taken with mom and dad wherever they went.
She loved the “Golden Girls”, “Lawrence Welk” and “Wheel of Fortune”.
She helped mom take care of all the cats for many years.
Chris loved to eat out. Her favorite places were Chuck A Rama, Sizzler and Paradise Café.
Christine is survived by her dad, Weldon; sister, Gloria (Jerry) Herrera; brother, Bruce (Sherri) Simmons. Many aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces whom she loved very much.
Her mother, Lucy Simmons, July 2017, preceded her in death.
As a family, we would like to thank all of our family and close friends who inquired about Christine’s health in the last few months, we love and appreciate you more than you will ever know. To our Aunt Lois who called Christine every day since mom passed away.
To all of the nurses and CNA’s who took care of Christine at IMC while she was there the last 3 weeks.
Thank you to the Legacy House of Taylorsville for watching over her, and to Highland Care Center who tenderly cared for her in her final days.
A viewing will be held Friday, April 20, 2018 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, UT. Graveside services will follow at Memorial Redwood Cemetery.
