Christine E. Hughes

November 7, 1945 — July 14, 2018

Chris, 72, died at home July 14, 2018, due to complications related to her medical condition. She was born November 7, 1945, in Washington, D.C. to Clark William Hamm, Sr. and Dorothy Walsh Farnell. She grew up in Virginia, Japan, Cambodia and the Philippines with her two brothers. They traveled the world with their mother’s job in the Foreign Service, visiting many exotic places. Her older brothers were best friends with the sons from another American family abroad, the Hughes’s. She married one of them and the love of her life, David Craig Hughes, April 3, 1965. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Jordan River Temple. They had three daughters. Chris was a hard worker with a keen mind and strong intellect who was a voracious reader with incredible recall. She was loving, kind, thoughtful, fun, compassionate, interesting, resourceful, smart and beautiful. Her many interests included art, politics, history, pajamas, naps and Diet Coke. But her pride and joy were her home and family. She had a personal relationship with each of them. She will be sorely missed by many including her beloved Westie Maggie. Chris is survived by her daughters Dana (Terry) Ewell, Tina (Brett) Holman and Mindy Bullington; eight grandchildren; almost eleven great-grandchildren; and brother Clark (Marga) Hamm and numerous other relatives who love her dearly.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 21, at 11:00 a.m. in the LDS Church located at 1327 West 5550 South. Family and friends may call one hour before the service and Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Mortuary located at 6500 S. Redwood Road in Taylorsville, Utah.
