Christian Charles Schenck, 83, passed away July 30 in Mesa, AZ. Chris was born on January 13, 1938, to Christian Andreas and Agnes Heinrich Schenck in Chicago, Illinois.
Chris moved around the country due to his fathers’ work. He told many stories of growing up with his 2 older sisters and 2 brothers. He helped build a cabin with his dad and brothers in Red Feather Lakes, Colorado. He loved fishing and hiking with his brothers both in Colorado and Utah. He settled in Utah as a teenager where he lived most of his life. He graduated from Murray High school. Through church activities, he met the love of his life, Marilynne. They were married, then later sealed in the Logan, Utah temple. Chris served in the Army Reserves and was away almost the entire 2nd year of marriage. He worked and retired from Hercules and Mervyn’s. Chris and Marilynne had 7 children, 5 girls and 2 boys. Chris has always been a hard worker was a good provider for his family. Anyone that knew Chris would tell you he was the most Christ-like, gentle, and loving person.
He and his wife, Marilynne moved to Arizona and spent almost 4 wonderful years with their youngest daughter, who lovingly cared for them.
Chris’ greatest joy in his later life was his grandchildren. He was so very proud of them and loved them to come and visit him. He had a great hobby of metal detecting and coin collecting. He also loved baseball both playing and watching it. Though he loved these treasures on earth-he still loved his wife and family first and foremost.
