Cheryle Ann Paxton

October 29, 1949 — September 3, 2018

Cheryle passed on Monday September 3, 2018 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was tormented with a great deal of distress, tribulation and suffering in her life, she demonstrated great strength in the face of tremendous opposition through no fault of her own. Cheryle fought her demons with fortitude and grace. She was surrounded by family when she passed; Sharon D. Ewer (niece), Josh Ziegel (great nephew), Dustin & Samantha Thatcher (grandson & granddaughter-in-law) were by her side. She was born in Murray, Utah on October, 29 1949. Cheryle married David Olin Thatcher on May 7, 1966; they were married fifteen years and had three children together. Cheryle loved her children, as a young mother, she enjoyed teaching primary. She worked at the Attorney General’s Office as a secretary where she made many friends at the State Capital and State Office Buildings. Cheryle had a great love for poetry, writing, music, singing, and dancing. She loved the joy she could bring to others by sharing her stories, poems, and songs. Cheryle was a huge Elvis fan; you could always make her smile by playing one of his songs, often followed by her singing along and dancing. There was always a song in her heart which helped her endure her hardships, even to the end.
Cheryle is survived by her siblings Toni Paxton, Gloria Woolman, Kim & Julie Paxton, son David Wayne Thatcher, daughter Jacqueline Marie (Thatcher) Lords, son-in-law Preston B. Lords, grandchildren Amber Nanos, Tasha Miller, Phoenix M. Bell, Dustin L. & Samantha K. Thatcher, great grandson William L. Thatcher, many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and her best friend & PW (Pallsie Wallsie) Eva Williams Rasmussen.
Proceeded in death by her mother Maryann Afton Paxton, father Arthur Wayne Paxton Sr., brother Arthur Wayne Paxton Jr., and daughter Connie Ann Bond.
Following cremation, Cheryle will be placed at Memorial Redwood Mortuary & Cemetery at 6500 S. Redwood Road, West Jordan,
Utah 84123. There will be a celebration of life in the weeks to come.
