Cheryl Jean Cook

November 24, 1951 — October 19, 2020

November 24, 1951 – October 19, 2020

Our dear Sister, Aunt and friend passed peacefully, surrounded by her family in the early hours of Monday October 19, 2020.

Our sweet Cheryl had a heart of gold. Always giving and doing for others. She had a beautiful smile highlighted by such cute dimples. Her eyes sparkled when she laughed. Cheryl had many friends throughout her life. She had the unique ability to make everyone feel like they were her best friend. You all were!! She had a couple of lifelong friends that were with her through thick and thin. Ross Casper was a constant in her life, she simply enjoyed talking to and being around him. Diann Bowles was such a good friend and great support to her. Thank you everyone for your love and support.

Later in life, Cheryl was so happy to go through the Temple. Jay and Patt Snelgrove took her under their wings and into their hearts. She loved them dearly and they loved her.

Cheryl was a fun-loving person. She had some great times with family and friends before her mobility stunted those experiences. She never married or had children of her own but lived vicariously through her dear family. Family filled her heart, mind and soul.

One cannot describe Cheryl without telling of her love for the Holidays. Especially Christmas! Christmas was a “year-long” holiday to her. She shopped and listened to Christmas music year-round. She looked forward to November so Kathy, Paul, the boys and their families could come decorate her tree. It had more lights and decorations than the sky has stars. It was all celebrated with her famous spaghetti dinner which was always a favorite. That day was followed by her collection of snowmen finding their way into her living room. Cheryl requested her snowmen be donated to Primary Children’s Hospital.

She had a love for animals. Especially her kitties. She requested in lieu of flowers; donations be made to the Humane Society in her memory.

Cheryl gave selflessly of herself. She took special care of her mom and dad (Betty and Wendell) as their health declined, until the end of their days on Earth. She was very close to her mom. When her mom passed it left a void in her life and a hole in her heart that never quite healed. In her last few days of life, she would call out to her mom. When asked, “Is mom in the room?” she replied with pure joy,  “Yes, she came and sat by me!”

Cheryl was an extremely strong person. She had many difficulties along the way and many physical health problems. She pushed through, taking it all as it came and moving on to the next day. She was and still is our Angel.

Cheryl is survived by her sisters and brother, nieces and nephews and their families. Linda Atwood (Nicole, Ken Hughes, Charlie). Kathy (Paul) McDermaid (Chaz, Misty, Parker, Dawson and Jagger, Derk, Kim, Kinlee and Brightyn). Brad (Betty) Cook, (Stacy and Glen Harline, Olivia, Mitchell, and Owen, Joey and Kami Muramoto, Kiana, Austin and Colton, Emma, Jill (Ryan) Hadley, Ruth and June).

Preceded in death by; parents, Wendell and Betty Cook, brother in law Arvel Charles (Chuck) Atwood Sr.; nephew Arvel Charles (Charlie) Atwood Jr.

Our family would like to express our appreciation to Canyons Hospice for their kindness.
