Charlotte Wycherly Martinez

July 28, 1938 — February 9, 2020

Charlotte Wycherly Martinez was born on July 28th, 1938. She passed away on February 9, 2020, surrounded by those who loved and cherished her. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and joy. Her indomitable spirit and profound sense of humor will continue to lift and inspire those lives she touched.
Charlotte was one of those exceptional souls that always left you better off than when she found you. From a young age, growing up in Carbon county, she spent most of her childhood wrapped up in adventures with her brother, sister, and cousins. She was an avid reader and story-teller, often using her own creativity to make up stories to entertain her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. Charlotte valued laughter, her sense of humor touching the hearts of everyone she knew. Often described as the life of the party, she was the very essence of joy, imagination, and love. She wore many hats throughout her life; a cheerleader if you needed confidence, a warrior if you needed strength, a mentor if you needed guidance, and most of all, a warm heart if you needed love. Charlotte had a unique talent for making you feel welcome, regardless of your situation or circumstance. Her love was something you felt immediately from across the room, like a warm sunbeam that enveloped you and only you. She had a remarkable gift for love, compassion, and a unique grace that will live on in the hearts of everyone that had the delight of knowing her.
Preceded in death by her father James Wycherly, mother Thelma Wycherly Lemmon, brother James Leonard Wycherly Jr, sister Peggy Day and brother-in-law Jackie Day.
Survived by her devoted husband Joe Virgil Martinez, and her loving children Paul (Becky) Martinez, Pam (Pernell) Thomas, and Marcie Martinez (Troy Webb). As well as her doting grandchildren Joshua (Makell) Thomas, Shantel Carey (Jared) Thomson, Tatianna Martinez (Jacob Ewell), and Taiden (Jeanell) Martinez. She was also blessed with several great-grandchildren whom she loved and adored beyond measure; MaKaylee, Kylee, Braxton, Tristyn, Linkoln, Rhyann and soon-to-be-welcomed Leon.
And when great souls die,
after a period peace blooms,
slowly and always
irregularly. Spaces fill
with a kind of
soothing electric vibration.
Our senses, restored, never
to be the same, whisper to us.
They existed. They existed.
We can be. Be and be
better. For they existed.
