Charlotte Tuckfield

July 13, 1953 — September 16, 2016

Beloved daughter, sister, aunt, teacher, and friend to all, returned to her eternal home on Thursday, September 16, 2016.  Charlotte Ilene Tuckfield, age 63, ‘fought the good fight’ throughout her life and more recently through complications incurred from a stroke in February 2016.  Her tenderness, love, and compassion will be missed by all who had the opportunity of knowing and associating with her.  All who knew her were uplifted from the amazing spirit she carried with her.
Charlotte was the second of seven children born to Jean Nelson and Lysle C. Tuckfield on July 13, 1953, in Salt Lake City, Utah.   From the time she was a small child she was faced with and conquered many physical challenges. Though physically small in stature, she was large in spirit and had love for all. Through these challenges she remained cheerful, optimistic, and uplifted others.
Charlotte grew up in Murray, Utah, and graduated from Murray High School in 1971. She was an active member of the Murray High School band, drama, and debate organizations.  After graduation she attended Snow College in Ephraim, Utah, and completed an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education.  Her lifelong career then began as a preschool teacher, with the majority of her career teaching at Magic Castle Child Care. She loved children and had an incredible influence as she taught and interacted with hundreds of children over the years.
Charlotte was an active member in the LDS Church and served faithfully as a visiting teacher and primary worker in the Garden Heights Ward in Salt Lake City.  One of her most treasured callings was working side-by-side with her mother in their ward nursery for many years.  She was a pillar of strength and inspiration in all she did.
Her hobbies and interests included camping and traveling throughout the United States, Europe, and Israel. She loved music and crafts, spending time with family, and was quick to volunteer her assistance in any capacity–especially with children. She always had a game, puppets, or a story book to entertain them.  She loved to learn and would spend time keeping her mind, body, and spirit sharp and keen.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her father, Lysle Tuckfield.  She is survived by her mother, Jean, six siblings, Christine Cox, L. Reed (Laurie) Tuckfield, Patricia (Dennis) Clark, Sandra (Stephen) Schrank, Janet (Karl) Steadman, and Michael C. (Katrina) Tuckfield, loving nieces and nephews, former spouse Michael E. Fairbanks, and a host of extended family and beloved friends.
Viewings and funeral services will be held at the LDS Garden Heights Ward, 2220 E Fisher Lane (2930 S), Salt Lake City, Utah.  Viewings will be held Friday, September 23 from 6:00-8:00 pm and Saturday, September 24, from 10:00-10:45 am preceding the funeral, which begins at 11:00 am.  Interment at Memorial Mountain View Cemetery, 3115 Bengal Blvd, Cottonwood Heights, Utah.
The family is grateful for a loving mother who unselfishly spent time daily caring for and being at Charlotte’s side.  They also extend their deepest appreciation to the compassionate and highly-trained staff of Rocky Mountain Care’s Hunter Hollow skilled nursing community for the loving care provided during the past several months.
“Come unto me, ye blessed, there is a place prepared for you in the mansions of my Father.” (Enos 1:27)
