Charles Lee “Chuck” Summers

September 22, 1926 — May 8, 2016

Chuck left his earthly body this last Sunday in search of his bride, who he has so dearly missed these past 6 years.
Dad was surrounded by his family as he passed, and for the first time in years there was a sense of peace on his face.
Dad was part of the “greatest generation” and proudly served his country in the bitter cold of the Aleutian Islands during the last years of
World War Two.
Those of that generation are few and far between now and Dad proudly hung on as long as he could.
Dad was borne Sept. 22nd 1926 in Kansas City, Kansas to Charles Gaston Summers and Mae Lindy Ware Summers. His parents passed when dad was young and he was raised by his sister Inez, (our grandma Dodd) during the tough life of the great depression. Chuck was the last of his family living and this chapter of that generation, sadly has now come to a close.
Chuck married his Bride, Carole Elaine Andersen October 29th 1946 and they were partners thru thick and thin for 63 years. Chuck was preceded in death by his beautiful bride Carole and is survived by his children, Greg and his angel Sandy, Caryn (Pete), Cher (Mike), Dave (Paula), Chad (Krista), and Chris.
He also was Papa to 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and a great great grandchild just to round things out. Dad was a simple man from a much simpler time and would not have wanted a big (as he would say) “to do” for his funeral.
There will be a graveside service at Holiday Memorial Park (4900 S Memory Lane Holladay, Utah) on Wednesday this 11th of May, at 1:00 PM.
The family would like to thank The Coventry Independent Living center for their love and support these past couple of years and also we know that Dad would want to thank the VA Medical Center who have taken such great care of him all these years, his service to his country was never forgotten.
Dad we will miss you so very much, but will celebrate your passing as you meet up with your bride at long last.
And Mom… we know Dad can be a kind of a pain so please, don’t be to hard on him as you rejoin each in eternal embrace.
In lieu of flowers please give a donation to your local Humane Society dad would like that much more than flowers.
