Charles Joseph Peterson III returned to his Heavenly home on February 23, 2020. Charles was born September 18, 1930 in Salt Lake City Utah, to Charles Joseph Peterson Jr. and Norma Venus Lewis Peterson. He grew up in Salt Lake City, where he attended West High School. Before he left for his mission he met a young girl named Charlene Folger. Charles served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Southern States Mission. He returned and married his sweetheart, Charlene, on December 28th 1952, in the Hotel Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in March of 1973, in the Salt Lake Temple. Charles joined the Air Force Service in 1953, and they were later stationed in Illinois. He worked for Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah and commuted many years until he retired at the age of 50. He was not one to sit still. He then found employment at the Deseret Pasta Plant in Kearns, Utah. He fixed the equipment until they forced him into retirement at the age of 72. He could fix anything from airplanes, pasta equipment, cars, televisions, stereos, appliances, boats, motors, etc.. If it had a schematic, he could fix it.
His sweetheart, Charlene, had diabetes and required dialysis three times a week. He lovingly cared for her without complaint. His love for grandma was eternal. He loved to go to the airshows, but his love for family, boating, and waterskiing topped them all. A water-ski ride when the water was glass was always a dream of his. He took his final ride just last summer at the age of 88.
He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served the Lord in many callings throughout his life. He was a wonderful example to everyone.
We will miss your love, kindness, service, example, and smile. Give mom a kiss from us. Until we meet again.
Survived by his children Joe (Tracy), Debbie (Brad), Ronnie (Melanie), David (Chauna), Jolene (Frank), Darren (Misty), Robert (Cheri), 23 grandchildren, and 34 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his eternal companion and sweetheart Charlene, daughter Nicole, parents Charles and Norma, sisters Lucille, Delores, Mary Ann, and great-grandchildren Jeter and Hazel.
