Charles David Jaterka, born on June 24, 1970, passed away unexpectedly at his home on January 13, 2025.

David made friends easily. His neighbors loved him and quickly took him under their wings. David had lifelong friends and new friends, and everyone enjoyed his infectious laugh. When he was a baby, he had a teddy bear he carried with him everywhere. Because of the bear, and because he liked to give and receive hugs, his nickname was “Huggy Bear”. This name stuck with him well into his later years. As he grew older, he loved the outdoors, his family went camping whenever they could. In fourth grade he started skiing, it was his passion. David and his friend Bob extreme skied whenever they could. When David could no longer ski because of his health, he bought an EEP (because the J was missing) and took his children four wheeling and rock climbing every weekend. David was an avid dog lover and always had one or several dogs by his side.

David loved his children more than life itself and enjoyed every opportunity to spend time with them. David was a simple man who loved skiing, camping, fishing, and rock climbing. His biggest love was his children and grandchildren.

David was preceded in death by his father Charles Edward Jaterka, and left behind his stepmother Vicki Jaterka, mother Peggy (Mark) Carlton, brothers Daniel Edward (Lora) Jaterka and Deven Brian Jaterka, son’s Tyler David (Alyssa) Jaterka, Nathan Zachary (Jen) Jaterka, daughters Cassie Larkin, Crystal Paul, and Samantha Jaterka. David had 9 grandchildren, Alexis, Jaxon, Athena, Bentley, Samantha, Abbigail, Adelleigh, Ava Jo, and Aurora.

May God ever bless him.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
