Charles Douglas Duncan

May 26, 1928 — May 28, 2018

Our beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend Charles Douglas Duncan passed away May 28, 2018. He was born May 26, 1928 to Clifford Stanley and Jeanette Brodie Parlow Duncan. Doug grew up in Centerville, Utah graduating from Davis High School. Doug married his sweetheart Elva Duncan on Oct. 29, 1945. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Jordan River temple on July 23, 2004.  Together they were blessed with three children.
Doug was a talented and hardworking businessman. He worked for GUILD, INC for many years managing the furniture manufacturing plant. Doug later opened his own exclusive upholstery business. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather.
Family was the center of he and Elva’s life, and the family often gathered to celebrate holidays and birthdays.  Doug loved to take long rides with his family to point out all the beauties of the world, historic sites, or just interesting facts.  He was never without his camera to capture these outings or the wonders of the earth.
Doug has always been an adventurer at heart. He loved to go camping, hiking, fishing, shooting, kayaking, and bike riding. Doug was also an expert at gardening. His family benefited every year from his homegrown fruit trees, perfect vine grapes and largest tomatoes. He was always so generous sharing with family and neighbors.
Doug was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He loved serving the Lord. He also loved those he served with, and always felt welcomed. We are sure those who associated with Doug were better for having met this wise soul.
Doug also enjoyed the company of the many friends he made while going to the Golden Years Senior Center. He enjoyed so many wonderful activities, book groups, pool games, food, and the opportunity to socialize with amazing people. This truly brought him great joy and filled his days with purpose.
We are so grateful for this kind and humble man. He was a joy to be around, always so thoughtful and caring. We loved to hear his stories about the deep and meaningful things in this life and his special sense for those beyond. He always had a camera in hand, loved long car rides and walks in the mountains, rarely missed a birthday, and mailed grandkids the funnest packages for Christmas. Above all, he was a gentle giant who quietly served his neighbor (and all the stray animals), and loved his family and friends. He was faithful and good. He provided us all with the most precious, happy memories – most of them caught on film. He impacted all our lives in the most positive ways and we are forever thankful for his love and kindness. Already miss and love you!
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, wife Elva, and sisters Margaret Price, Darlene Costanzo, and Bonnie Wangberg. He is survived by his sister Norma Jo Jackman, sons Mike Duncan (Sally), Gary Duncan (Julie) and daughter Cheryl Duncan, along with five grandchildren, Mike Jr., Lisa, Karen, Ryan and John, and 16 great grandchildren. Special friends, Sherrie Wade, and Linda Flores.
